The 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) was held on June 12th to 16th, 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. MC12 was held under the chairmanship of the Honourable Mr. Timur Suleimenov, Deputy Chief of Staff of Kazakhstan’s President.

THEMATIC DISCUSSIONS DURING THE 12TH WTO MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE (MC12),

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, yesterday participated in the thematic discussions on the draft Ministerial Decision on Agriculture during the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC12), during which he delivered a statement on behalf of CARICOM.

Minister Todd noted that whilst the agriculture agenda is one of the most important aspects of the WTO work programme, there has been little progress since the approval of the Agreement on Agriculture and the decision made in Nairobi on the elimination of export subsidies.

WTO MC12- THEMATIC DISCUSSIONS ON THE DRAFT AGREEMENT ON FISHERIES SUBSIDIES

The 12th WTO Ministerial Conference continued Today, 14 June 2022, with thematic discussions on the draft Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation participated in the session in his capacity as CARICOM spokesperson on WTO matters and delivered comments.

Minister Todd noted that CARICOM appeals for decisive action to curb harmful fisheries subsidies published by Prime Ministers from the CARICOM Region in a commentary released yesterday.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on 12 June 2022, attended the opening ceremony of the 12th Session of the WTO Ministerial Conference (MC12) which is being held from 12 to 15 June, 2022, at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The opening ceremony was held under the chairmanship of the Honourable Mr. Timur Suleimenov of Kazakhstan.
